When it comes to what Cruz has next up his sleeve, David admitted he would love to see the youngster join forces with former Spice Girls star and mother Victoria.
Asked about a potential duet between Cruz and Victoria, David told Entertainment Tonight: "Oh, I don't know about that. You'd have to ask Victoria. I doubt, I doubt that. I'd love to see it, but I'm not sure it's gonna happen."
Victoria has not performed since she joined her Spice Girls bandmates to perform at the closing ceremony for London's 2012 Olympics. And the busy fashion designer has declined to participate in next year's (17) reunion of the band.
Meanwhile, David also addressed the backlash he and Victoria have received since Cruz released his song.
The former footballer insisted the single was entirely Cruz's idea, with the famous couple just doing their bit to help him achieve his dream.
“He came to us five weeks ago, and we realised that he has a cute little voice – a good little voice – and a passion and he said, ‘You know, why don't I do a Christmas song? Why don't I, you know, do a Christmas song and give the funds to a charity of his choice?’ And we said, ‘Great. Great idea'," David smiled proudly.
David was speaking as he attended the UNICEF 70th Anniversary Event on Monday night (12Dec16). He also revealed what he and Victoria are buying each other for Christmas, surprising many with their less than lavish gift requests.
“Socks is always a good one. You know, I'm an Englishman so we – us Brits we love nice socks, so I've asked for socks this year,” he said. “Victoria's list, um, nice pyjamas. She loves some nice PJ's, comfy and cosy.”
